Julianna’s Senior Session | Jeffrey Open Space Session

2021

Jeffrey Open Space has become one of the most popular choices for my graduating seniors! It truly has the most magical light in the spring. Just beware: if you want a photoshoot there, you will be there with about 100 other photo sessions going on at any given time!

Julianna’s session ended up being one of those magical days at the park. We got some great shots that show what an absolute beauty she is. She will be attending Cal Poly Slo in the fall for Engineering! She is beautiful and crazy smart too! Good luck Julianna!

TIPS FOR YEAR-ROUND SENIOR PHOTOSHOOTS IN ORANGE COUNTY!

Orange County’s diverse climate and stunning landscapes offer a unique advantage for high school seniors planning their portrait sessions. Whether you prefer the vibrant colors of spring, the warmth of summer, the crispness of fall, or the mild winters, Orange County has it all. As an Orange County senior photographer, I’m excited to share tips on how to plan year-round senior portraits that capture the essence of each season.

  1. Spring Splendor: Location Tips: Explore Orange County’s blooming gardens and parks like the Sherman Library and Gardens or the Fullerton Arboretum for a burst of colorful flowers. Wardrobe Suggestions: Pastels and floral patterns work well in spring, complementing the vibrant backdrop.
  2. Sunny Summers: Location Tips: Hit the beach, like Laguna Beach or Newport Beach, to make the most of Orange County’s coastal beauty. Wardrobe Suggestions: Opt for lightweight, breathable fabrics in bright colors or beachy pastels.
  3. Fall Foliage: Location Tips: Orange County’s canyons, such as Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park, offer stunning fall foliage backdrops. Wardrobe Suggestions: Embrace autumn colors like deep reds, oranges, and earthy tones for a cozy vibe.
  4. Mild Winters: Location Tips: Winter in Orange County is the perfect time for urban photoshoots in historic downtown areas like San Juan Capistrano. Wardrobe Suggestions: Layering is key in winter. Cozy sweaters, scarves, and even beanies can add warmth and style to your portraits.
  5. Golden Hour Magic: Timing is Everything: Plan your photoshoot during the golden hour, the hour before sunset, for soft, warm lighting that enhances the beauty of any season.
  6. Weather Preparedness: Be Flexible: Orange County’s weather can be unpredictable, so be prepared for sudden changes. Always have an alternative plan or date in case of rain or extreme weather.
  7. Props for the Season: Incorporate Seasonal Props: Use props like umbrellas for a rainy day shoot, a beach ball for summer, or fallen leaves for autumn to add a seasonal touch.
  8. Keep Comfort in Mind: Stay Comfortable: Dress appropriately for the weather to ensure you’re comfortable and relaxed during the photoshoot.
  9. Changing Scenery: Plan Multiple Locations: Take advantage of Orange County’s diverse landscapes by incorporating different locations in your photoshoot to capture the essence of each season.
  10. Seasonal Signature Shots: Highlight Seasonal Activities: If there are specific activities you enjoy during a particular season, like surfing in summer or hiking in fall, include them in your portraits.

Orange County’s year-round beauty offers endless possibilities for senior portraits in every season. By considering location, wardrobe, and timing, you can create stunning and diverse senior portraits that capture the essence of each season and the unique beauty of this remarkable region.
