Chavarria Family Session | Jeffrey Open Space

2022

As a senior photographer, I get to see a LOT of older families… kids who are so mature and on the precipice of launching into amazing new adventures. It is COMPLETELY different than shooting families with little ones. And oh how I love shooting the little ones!

This family is such a special one, and the girls are just the cutest ever. We had such a blast capturing these images and I can’t wait to watch these cuties grow!

Thanks Chavarria Family! xoxo

COLOR COORDINATION IN WARDROBE SELECTION FOR ORANGE COUNTY FAMILY PORTRAITS!

When it comes to family photos, choosing the right outfits can make a significant difference in the overall look and feel of your portraits. As an Orange County family photographer, I understand the importance of color coordination in creating visually appealing and cohesive family portraits. In this blog post, we’ll share stylish outfit ideas and tips for color coordination to help your family shine in your next photoshoot!

The Power of Color Coordination

Color coordination in family photos is not about everyone wearing the same outfit; it’s about selecting colors and styles that complement each other. Here’s why it matters:

  1. Visual Harmony: Coordinated colors create a visually harmonious look, making the family appear more connected and united.
  2. Timeless Appeal: Well-coordinated outfits are less likely to go out of style, ensuring your family photos remain timeless.
  3. Highlighting Individuals: Coordinated colors allow each family member’s personality to shine while still maintaining a cohesive look.

Tips for Stylish Color Coordination

Now, let’s dive into some outfit ideas and tips for achieving stylish color coordination in your family photos:

**1. Start with a Neutral Base:

  • Begin with neutral colors like white, beige, gray, or denim as a base for some family members’ outfits.

**2. Select a Color Palette:

  • Choose a color palette that consists of two to three complementary colors. This can include soft pastels, earthy tones, or even bold jewel colors.

**3. Mix and Match:

  • Mix different shades within your chosen color palette to add depth and variety to your family’s outfits.

**4. Avoid Neon and Bright Colors:

  • Steer clear of neon or extremely bright colors that can be distracting in photos. Opt for softer, muted versions of your chosen palette.

**5. Consider Patterns:

  • Incorporate patterns in a subtle way, such as a patterned scarf, tie, or dress, but avoid too many competing patterns.

**6. Accessories Matter:

  • Don’t forget about accessories like scarves, hats, or statement jewelry, which can add personality and style to your family’s outfits.

**7. Coordinate, Don’t Match:

  • Aim for coordinated, not matching outfits. Each family member should express their individual style while still fitting within the color palette.

**8. Layer Wisely:

  • Layering can add texture and interest to your outfits. Think about adding cardigans, vests, or blazers in complementary colors.

**9. Consider the Location:

  • Think about the location of your photoshoot and how the natural surroundings can complement your color palette.

Conclusion

Color coordination is a key element in creating stylish and visually pleasing family photos. By following these tips and outfit ideas, you can achieve a harmonious and coordinated look that reflects your family’s unique style while enhancing the overall aesthetics of your portraits.
