So you really have to love the magic of social media.
When I first started my business, I did all the requisite signups for social media – Facebook, Twitter… then eventually Instagram. I never really developed a social media “strategy” (I know, it’s on my list of things to do), but I decided that for Twitter, I really wanted to follow strong, interesting women, many of whom lived right here in Orange County.
I started having fun conversations with many of these women (in 140 characters or less), and eventually became friends with some of them. One of my friends discovered through Twitter is Kelly Lewis of According To Kelly and Just Spotted OC. Kelly ended up hiring me to do a super fun Valentine’s shoot for her family (you can see it here). Kelly is friends with Elizabeth Esther who is this crazy smart, really funny and wickedly-great writer (her blog is here). Elizabeth saw Kelly’s pictures and she ended up hiring me to do a family shoot for her.
Elizabeth is one of these women who you instantly want to sit down and have coffee with (which by the way, is also on my to do list) :-). She has an incredibly warm and welcoming vibe about her, and if you read her blog or anything of hers on social media, you know how engaging and passionate she is. She and her wonderful husband are the parents of FIVE beautiful children. Normally when I know I’m shooting a family with five kids, I get ready to work HARD. But these kids are simply awesome and they made my job easy that day.
I should add that Elizabeth asked for some head shots of herself for her new book that will be coming out soon (how cool is that?). I think you will agree that she looks pretty darn beautiful in all of them.
