Local Spotlight Series: The Breastfeeding Center of Orange County
This post is part of my “Local Spotlight” series, featuring amazing Orange County professionals supporting families through every stage of motherhood.

Meet Leora Robles, IBCLC — Founder & Lead Lactation Consultant

When families in Orange County think about compassionate, expert feeding support, many turn to The Breastfeeding Center of Orange County, founded by Leora Robles, IBCLC in 2019. Based in Laguna Hills and offering home visits across the county (plus virtual care for families anywhere), Leora and her team have become a trusted resource for parents navigating one of the most important — and sometimes challenging — journeys of early parenthood.

As a motherhood photographer in Orange County, I love spotlighting professionals like Leora who support families during such an important season of life.

Why Leora Started The Breastfeeding Center

Leora’s inspiration for launching the center came directly from her own experience. As a mom of three boys, she faced unique feeding challenges with each child. Those struggles opened her eyes to how difficult the journey can be without the right support.

“I wanted to create a place where families could get ongoing, compassionate, evidence-based feeding support — not just in the early days, but throughout their entire feeding journey,” she shares.

After becoming a Certified Lactation Educator and later an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Leora set out to provide the kind of care she wished she had as a new mother.

Services That Meet Families Where They Are

The Breastfeeding Center offers a wide range of services designed to support parents at every stage:

  • Private Lactation Consultations — in-home, in-office, or virtual

  • Prenatal Breastfeeding Classes (Breastfeeding 101)

  • Mamas Milk Club — virtual and in-person support groups

  • Pump Fitting & Flange Sizing Guidance

  • Bottle Feeding & Weaning Support

  • 24/7 Chat & Online Resources through the Mamas Milk Club

What makes the center unique is the combination of clinical expertise with a warm, personal touch. “Families often say it feels like talking to a friend who just happens to know everything about lactation,” Leora notes.

For new parents preparing to welcome their little one, pairing prenatal education with a maternity photography session can be a beautiful way to honor this chapter.

Core Values That Guide Every Visit

The mission of The Breastfeeding Center rests on three pillars:

  • Compassion First – honoring every family’s unique journey

  • Evidence-Based Care – using the latest research and best practices

  • Community Connection – creating a true village for parents

These values are evident in every class, consultation, and support group.

Stories of Support & Success

Some of the most rewarding moments for Leora are watching confidence bloom in new parents. “Those ‘I can do this!’ moments are everything,” she says.

One mom’s story stands out: she came to Mamas Milk Club exclusively pumping and bottle feeding, convinced latching “just wasn’t working.” With Leora’s guidance, reassurance, and follow-ups, that mom went on to nurse her baby for over a year.

Another memorable experience? Supporting a mom of triplets — yes, three babies! Extra consultants joined sessions just to hold the little ones, making it a true team effort.

Growing Roots in Orange County

Being based in Orange County has shaped the center in powerful ways. Parents here value health, wellness, and connection, aligning perfectly with the center’s mission.

The Breastfeeding Center also gives back: hosting low-cost support groups, collaborating with local small businesses, and mentoring future lactation consultants.

Looking Ahead

Leora has big plans for the future, including expanding class offerings and building out a stronger online resource hub for parents. The growth of Mamas Milk Club has been especially exciting — giving parents access to community and reassurance, even at 3 a.m.

How You Can Support

The community can help The Breastfeeding Center of Orange County thrive by:

  • Spreading the word to expecting and new parents

  • Following @breastfeed_oc on Instagram

  • Sharing personal experiences with friends, family, and professionals

A Final Note

Leora wants families to know that support at her center isn’t limited to breastfeeding. “Many people are surprised to learn we also help with bottle feeding, combo feeding, and weaning,” she explains.

At the heart of it all is a simple but powerful motto:
“From the First Latch to the Last Drop.”
