Paris’ Senior Shoot | Jeffrey Open Space | Orange County Senior Photographer

2022

Jeffrey Open Space has been such a popular shooting location for me over the last two years. It’s also one of the few places where you can still find a few flowers well into the summer. And that LIGHT is magical every, single, time.

Paris is a very special human… she’s beautiful, bright, funny and headed for great things. She is also an absolute EXPERT at posing for photos. Most Gen Z kids know how to pose for pictures… after all, they’ve had iphone cameras in their faces since they were babies. But Paris just has an innate sense of what looks good. And she sure made my job easy! Her images came out so beautiful!

Paris is off the the University of Arizona in the fall (Go Wildcats!). Have fun on your adventure, Paris!! xoxo

HOW TO POSE FOR YOUR ORANGE COUNTY SENIOR SESSION!

Senior photography is all about capturing the unique personality and essence of the graduating senior. Posing plays a crucial role in bringing out the best in your subjects, highlighting their individuality, and creating beautiful and memorable senior portraits. In this blog post, we’ll provide detailed posing suggestions!

The Art of Posing for Senior Portraits

  1. Standing Poses:
    • Confident Stance: For a confident look, have your senior stand with their feet shoulder-width apart. Ensure their weight is evenly distributed between both feet. This balanced posture exudes self-assuredness.
    • Straight Back: Encourage your senior to maintain a straight back and a relaxed but not stiff posture. Slouching should be avoided.
  2. Sitting Poses:
    • Crossed Legs: When sitting, crossing the legs at the ankles or knees can create a classic and elegant look. Ensure they sit up straight for good posture.
    • Legs Extended: For a more relaxed and natural look, have your senior sit with their legs extended or crossed casually.
  3. Arms and Hands:
    • Natural Placement: Encourage natural arm positioning, avoiding tense or awkward angles. The arms should rest comfortably at the sides or gently on the hips for a relaxed appearance.
    • Hands: Hands can be a powerful element in senior portraits. Suggest natural gestures like lightly touching the face, playing with hair, or holding a prop that reflects the senior’s interests.
    • Movement: Capture movement by having your senior walk, twirl, or interact with their surroundings. This adds dynamism to the portraits and brings out their personality.
  4. Seated Poses:
    • Crossed Legs: While sitting, crossed legs can create an elegant and polished look. Ensure that the senior maintains good posture.
    • Hands on Knees: For a more casual vibe, suggest placing their hands on their knees while sitting on a bench or a similar setting.
  5. Candid Poses:
    • Laughter and Interaction: Candid moments often produce the most genuine and beautiful portraits. Encourage the senior to interact with family members, friends, or props for authentic expressions and emotions.
    • Walking and Talking: Capture candid shots of the senior walking, talking, or engrossed in an activity they love. These moments showcase their personality and interests.

Conclusion

Posing is an art in senior photography that requires careful consideration of the senior’s personality and the desired style of the portraits. Whether standing, sitting, or engaging in candid moments, the key is to capture the essence of the senior’s character while ensuring they look their best.
