My friend and mentor, Drew Bittel of drewbphotography.com insisted that it was time for me to get a blog. For those of you that know Drew, she is the MASTER blogger. Not only does she have a blog dedicated to her photography business, she also has a newer blog, momtog.com, which is for all of those mothers out there who want to take better pictures of their kids. So, for those of us keeping count, she’s got a thriving photography business, two blogs, a teaching program, a husband and an 18-month old son (who is almost too cute for words). And to top it all, she is passionate and successful in every one of those areas. So thanks, Drew, for all of your help! It’s been incredible!
As my photography business is getting off the ground, I am trying to figure out how to balance my passion for photography with my passion for my kids. I think one of the best pieces of advice given to me by Drew was to set office hours and stick to them. Right now, I seem to be finding that easier to do in theory than in practice. I will steal moments away at the computer when my girls are eating breakfast, or let them watch that one more show so I can get out an email. Probably not the worst indiscretions in the world, but I could see how easy it can be to put work ahead of your kids.
As for my portfolio, I am hard at work getting it up to date and on this site. Until then, some pictures of my five year old, Kendall, in a rare, pensive moment.
