Photography is an interesting gig. Some people go into it because they need a job. Some people go into it because they have a passion for photography, capturing moments, being a part of a client’s memories… a whole host of reasons. In Orange County there is no shortage of photographers. I like to joke that every third person is a photographer in some stage of a business.
I don’t know if it’s really that important as to WHY someone chooses to become a photographer. I suppose it’s more important to ask HOW.
That is my current path at the moment. The HOW.
I already know the WHY. And the HOW is already partly there. But if you’re a photographer, to cool thing is that the HOW thing is never quite done. It’s that part of you that is curious. That is motivated. That is itching to learn something new about photography. I mean, jeez… the HOW alone can be a full time job for a photographer.
So as I enter into my busy family portrait season, I’m also taking a moment to recognize that nagging voice inside me telling me it’s time to venture into new territories in this vast industry. To hone some new skills. To push myself to do things I don’t normally do.
My HOW is still unwritten.
And that’s pretty cool.
