Why Preparation Matters

There aren’t a lot of photographers offering luxury newborn photography sessions in Orange County. We are one of the few and we feel strongly that it’s by far the best approach to newborn photography there is. Our number one goal is taking care of our new moms from start to finish.

We know that bringing your newborn into the studio for their first portraits can feel overwhelming. Parents often wonder: What will the session be like? Will my baby cooperate? How long will it take?

The truth is, a luxury newborn photography session is designed to be calm, comfortable, and completely baby-led. From the moment you step into my Old Town Tustin studio, everything is taken care of so you can relax and enjoy this milestone.

Arrival at the Studio

When you arrive, you’ll be greeted with a warm, welcoming space. The studio is prepared before you get there:

  • The room is warmed to keep your baby cozy.

  • Props, wraps, and wardrobe are sanitized and ready.

  • Soft seating areas are available for parents to rest.

You’ll have time to feed, soothe, or cuddle your baby before we begin. There’s no rush—we follow your baby’s natural rhythm.

Baby-Led Flow

Every newborn session is baby-led. That means if your little one needs to eat, we pause. If they need rocking or soothing, we take the time.

This flexible approach keeps your baby comfortable and ensures your portraits reflect natural, peaceful moments rather than forced poses. Sessions typically last 2–3 hours, but the time is fluid to accommodate your baby’s needs.

Our full-service experience takes care of you from the moment you arrive at our Tustin studio. Learn more about our newborn portrait experience here.

Styling for Parents and Siblings

Luxury newborn photography celebrates the entire family, not just the baby. That’s why I provide:

  • Professional hair and makeup for moms, so you feel radiant and confident even in the postpartum stage.

  • A curated wardrobe for moms and younger siblings in neutral tones, ensuring everyone looks cohesive.

  • Styling guidance, so you never have to wonder what to wear.

Safe and Gentle Posing

Your newborn’s safety is my top priority. All posing is done gently, with constant support and awareness of your baby’s comfort. I never force a baby into a position. Instead, I guide them naturally, capturing their tiny details—their curled toes, wisps of hair, and sleepy expressions.

Parent and Family Portraits

While much of the session focuses on your newborn, I always encourage parents and siblings to join in. These portraits capture the emotional connection of welcoming a new life into your family, and they often become the most meaningful images in your gallery.

Our sessions include: baby alone, baby with mom, baby with dad, baby with family. You’ll never have to choose between a newborn session and a family session.

Ordering Appointment: From Portraits to Artwork

A luxury session doesn’t end with the photoshoot. After your images are ready, you’ll return about 2-3 weeks after your session for a design and ordering appointment. Together, we’ll choose the best way to showcase your portraits:

  • Albums to tell your baby’s story

  • Wall galleries for your home

This step ensures your portraits don’t sit unseen on a computer but become part of your family’s legacy. Learn more about the why a professional photo album is a must and why printed artwork holds its value over time.

Your newborn session should feel like a celebration, not a chore. With a baby-led approach, curated wardrobe, professional styling, and heirloom artwork, the process is designed to be stress-free and deeply meaningful. If you’re just starting to explore options, take a look at what makes our newborn sessions different.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a newborn photography session last?

Sessions typically last 2–3 hours in my Old Town Tustin studio. This allows plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and breaks so everything moves at your baby’s pace. Parents often describe the atmosphere as surprisingly calm and restorative.

When should I reserve my newborn session?

I recommend booking during your first trimester to secure availability around your due date. This ensures we have the flexibility to adjust if your baby arrives early or late, and it allows us to plan wardrobe and artwork in advance.

What do I need to bring to my newborn session?

Nothing at all. My studio provides everything—organic wraps, bonnets, bows, and newborn outfits, along with wardrobe options for moms. This means you can simply show up, knowing every detail is already cared for.

Are parents and siblings included in the newborn session?

Yes, I always encourage including parents and siblings. These portraits tell a fuller story of your growing family. I provide styling guidance and wardrobe so everyone coordinates beautifully without the stress of planning outfits.

Do you provide professional hair and makeup for mothers?

Yes. Every mother receives professional hair and makeup before her session. This service ensures you feel confident and radiant, even in the early, tender weeks of motherhood, and it adds to the full-service, luxury experience.

What if my baby is fussy during the session?

That’s perfectly normal and completely expected. The session is never rushed—we pause for feeding, soothing, and cuddling as needed. Parents are often surprised at how patient and peaceful the process feels in my studio.

Is newborn posing safe?

Absolutely. Your baby’s safety is always my highest priority. Every pose is gentle, natural, and fully supported. I never force a position, and keep your little one safe at all times.

What should parents wear for newborn portraits?

Soft neutrals, creams, and pastels work beautifully in newborn sessions. My studio wardrobe includes pieces for moms, and I provide styling guidance for partners and siblings to ensure your portraits look cohesive and elevated.

Do I receive digital files as well as printed artwork?

Yes. Most families select a collection that includes both digital files for convenience and heirloom artwork for display. This way, you can enjoy your portraits every day in your home while also having the flexibility of digital access.

What happens after the session?

You’ll return to the studio for a personalized ordering appointment. Together, we’ll review your gallery and design custom artwork—albums, wall art, or both—that fit seamlessly into your home. I handle the entire process, from design to professional installation.
