OC newborn photography can still be shared online in a way that respects a family’s privacy. Amanda and Ari traveled from Coto de Caza to Jennifer Imus Photography, my newborn photography studio in Tustin, California, with their one-month-old baby girl, Adina. As a newborn photographer for Orange County families, I photographed their full newborn gallery, including baby portraits, parent photos, and family images.
For this blog post, they asked me to only share images where Adina’s face is not shown, and I was happy to respect that.
Adina was already one month old when she arrived at my studio for her newborn photos. Amanda had some significant complications during birth, so their family spent those first few weeks healing, resting, and bonding at home.
I always tell my clients that the best timing for newborn photos is whenever you are ready. Whether your baby is five days old or five weeks old, we can still create beautiful images.
I always follow baby’s lead in all my newborn sessions, but Adina’s session required an extra level of tenderness. Some babies are sleepy and easygoing, while others find the new environment a bit more overwhelming. Adina fell into the latter category, and that is perfectly okay!
On the rare occasion, babies will cry for the bulk of the session. Oftentimes, we never actually know why. After this session, Adina was perfectly fine and happy. I spent our four hours together moving slowly, and working around keeping her comfortable.
Thankfully, I was able to capture enough in-between moments when Adina wasn’t too upset to deliver a gallery of images that the family was so grateful for.

Protecting your family’s privacy is incredibly important, and I completely respect that some parents prefer not to share their baby’s face online. Your comfort and boundaries are the top priority.
For Adina’s OC newborn photography session, I photographed the full gallery like I normally would. Her parents received the full set of baby portraits, parent photos, and family images. For the blog, they asked me to only share photos where her face was not visible.
I always respect what each family is comfortable sharing. We can still show the feel of a session through tiny hands, curled feet, parent snuggles, over-the-shoulder images, and soft detail photos without sharing every image online.
Adina was a bit fussy and not ready to sleep, but I still stuck with my regular workflow. I started with the baby only shots and swaddled her in a white textured swaddle and laid her down on a white fabric. I did close ups of her face and from shoulders up in a “tucked in ” look. I shot some with a floral headband some without. Capturing all her adorable expressions!
After the swaddle shots I changed her into a cute white lace outfit. Moms love these! After a few shots of just Adina in her newborn outfit, we moved on to parent shots:
The Chaise Loveseat: I spent time here capturing the way Adina snuggled into the crook of Amanda’s neck and arms. By focusing on the back of Adina’s head and the way her tiny hand gripped the lace of Mom’s dress, I documented that “new baby” feeling.
The Vintage French Chair: This is a studio favorite for a reason. Seating Ari here allowed him to hold Adina close, creating a beautiful silhouette. I captured the “protective dad” feel by focusing on his hands cradling her small frame, emphasizing how tiny she still felt even at one month old.
The White Futon: For a more relaxed feel, I moved them to the futon. Here, the family sat together in the soft light from my studio windows. We captured “over-the-shoulder” perspectives too and shots from behind the family, showing the three of them as a united front.
I also made sure to focus on the macro details—tiny toes interlaced with parents’ fingers, the soft curve of an ear, and those miniature fingernails.

We used a warm, earthy color palette for Adina’s OC newborn photography session to reflect our intention for a calm environment:
Mushroom
Taupe
Cream
Ivory
Warm Tobacco
Natural Lace & White
For the final family portraits, Adina was changed into a darling white lace dress. The delicate texture of the lace photographed beautifully and tied the whole session together.
Amanda chose a stunning, BHLDN dress in a soft mushroom/taupe tone from my client wardrobe. The neutral, muted palette was the perfect choice for this session. Ari coordinated beautifully in a cream knit sweater and tobacco-colored chinos, keeping the entire look cohesive, warm, and organic.
