Top 10 Mommy and Me Activities in Orange County

Mother and daughter at the beach. Mommy and Me Activities in Orange County

(Updated September 2026). As a mom, it can sometimes feel like you’re constantly trying to come up with new and exciting mommy and me activities in Orange County to keep your little one entertained. Running out of ideas is completely normal, especially when juggling the many responsibilities of motherhood. The good news? Orange County is bursting with fun and engaging activities perfect for mothers and their children.

Whether you’re looking for outdoor adventures, creative outlets, or educational experiences, there’s something for everyone.

If you would rather sign up for an ongoing class, I also keep current guides to Mommy and Me classes throughout Orange County and Mommy and Me classes in Tustin.

1. Visit the Orange County Great Park in Irvine

The Great Park in Irvine gives families plenty of room to walk, picnic and play. The Great Park Balloon and Carousel operate on published schedules and may close because of weather or maintenance, so check the current schedule before promising either one to your child. The park’s playgrounds and open lawns also make this an easy, low-key outing.

2. Pretend City Children’s Museum in Irvine

Pretend City Children’s Museum is a child-sized city where little ones can role-play in a grocery store, post office, construction area and other hands-on exhibits. For babies 18 months and younger, Pretend City also offers its Baby Steps program, which gives families infant-focused playtime before regular museum hours. Check the museum calendar before visiting because programs and dates can change.

3. Explore the OC Zoo at Irvine Regional Park

The OC Zoo is inside Irvine Regional Park in the city of Orange and focuses on animals native to the southwestern United States. Many of the animals came to the zoo because they were injured, orphaned or could not be released back into the wild. You can also make a longer day of it with the park’s playgrounds, walking paths and other family activities. Check each operator’s current schedule before visiting.

4. Spend a Beach Day at Crystal Cove State Park

Crystal Cove State Park offers sandy coves, tide pools and trails, which gives you several ways to explore depending on your child’s age and energy level. If tide pooling is the plan, check the tide schedule first and remind children to look without removing animals, shells or rocks. Ocean conditions are never completely predictable, so stay close to little ones near the water.

5. Go to Storytime at a Local Library

Many Orange County libraries offer free storytimes, songs and early-learning activities for young children. The Newport Beach Public Library and Huntington Beach Public Library both maintain online program calendars, so you can find the right branch and age group before you go. I especially love the Tustin Library near my Old Town Tustin studio. Library schedules change, so always confirm the current calendar rather than relying on an old class time.

6. Take a Seasonal Tour at Tanaka Farms in Irvine

Tanaka Farms offers seasonal farm experiences that may include wagon rides, produce picking and visits to the Barnyard Educational Exhibit. What is available depends on the growing season and the event calendar, which is part of what makes repeat visits fun. Review the current experience and ticket details before you go.

7. Draw Together with the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity

Chuck Jones Center for Creativity offers art programs and community events for children and families. Its Drop In and Draw program invites children and adults to draw together with materials and guidance from teaching artists. Dates and locations vary, so use the official program calendar to confirm the next session.

8. Explore the Environmental Nature Center

The Environmental Nature Center in Newport Beach has walking trails through native plant habitats and family nature programs. Little Naturalists is designed for children ages 3 to 5 with a parent, and other offerings include baby-and-caregiver nature time and seasonal butterfly experiences. Check the current event calendar because programs and the Butterfly House are seasonal.

9. Choose a Playground Day at Huntington Central Park

Huntington Central Park has several playgrounds, walking paths and plenty of room for a casual morning outside. The park’s Adventure Playground is closed for the 2026 season and until further notice, so do not plan a visit around that attraction. The regular playgrounds are the reliable choice for now, and the city’s park page is the best place to check for future updates.

10. Explore Hands-On Science at Discovery Cube Orange County

Discovery Cube Orange County in Santa Ana is a dependable indoor option when the weather is too hot, too wet or you simply want a change of pace. Children can explore hands-on science exhibits, and the Orange County campus includes experiences such as the Discovery Cube Sea Lab. Exhibits and special events rotate, so check the current lineup and ticket information before visiting.

Capture the Moments That Matter

While you’re making memories with your little one, make sure you end up in some of the photographs too. I know how easy it is for moms to become the person taking every picture.

At my Old Town Tustin studio, I photograph babies, children and their parents through each quickly changing stage. My child milestone photography sessions include wardrobe and styling help so you can spend less time planning and more time being present with your child.

Questions about what it’s like to work with me and my full-service, stress-free motherhood sessions? I’d love to chat about how we can create a memorable session for both you an your children!
