Motherhood is one of the most profound journeys a woman can embark on. Yet, despite its beauty, it often comes with unexpected challenges, identity shifts, and emotional upheavals. Recognizing this, Alexa Levine, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, founded Therapy For California Moms—a virtual therapy practice dedicated to supporting moms throughout the state.
Alexa’s inspiration for starting her private practice came from her own journey through motherhood. As a therapist specializing in pregnancy and postpartum mental health, she still found herself struggling to rebuild her identity after becoming a mom. Understanding firsthand the intensity of this transition, she set out to create a safe space where other mothers could navigate these changes with professional and personal support.
Therapy For California Moms offers virtual individual therapy sessions designed specifically for mothers who are pregnant, postpartum, or parenting young children. Alexa’s approach is warm, relatable, and judgment-free, making it easier for clients to open up about their struggles.
Together, clients can:
What sets Alexa apart from other therapists in the field is her personal experience. As a mother of two and a survivor of preeclampsia, postpartum depression, and postpartum anxiety, she offers a unique blend of clinical expertise and lived experience. Her casual and down-to-earth style makes therapy feel approachable and supportive, helping clients feel seen and understood by someone who truly “gets it.”
A California native, Alexa was raised in Fullerton (North Orange County) before attending UC Santa Cruz for her undergraduate degree and Cal State Fullerton for graduate school. Now residing in North San Diego County, she continues to support mothers virtually throughout the state while staying deeply connected to the Orange County community.
Her personal experiences have shaped her practice, including her decision to proactively create a postpartum support plan during her second pregnancy. This intentional approach made a world of difference, allowing her to enjoy motherhood in ways she hadn’t the first time around. Now, she’s passionate about helping other moms create corrective postpartum experiences through proactive support and therapy.
Alexa is a strong advocate for collaboration within the perinatal mental health space. She gives a special shout-out to Postpartum Support International and Postpartum Health Alliance for their dedication to supporting new moms. She also hopes to continue partnering with professionals who provide community and care for mothers during pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenthood.
As Therapy For California Moms grows, Alexa is excited to continue working one-on-one with moms navigating the challenges of pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting. Her goal is to help mothers identify their core values, break free from mom guilt, and build emotional resilience as they transition into different phases of motherhood.
For moms looking for a safe, judgment-free space to process the challenges of motherhood, Alexa is ready to help. Whether it’s your first time in therapy or you’ve had previous experience, she welcomes you to reach out.
