Why This Award Means So Much to Me
I was recently named a Best of Tustin photography award winner, and I’ve been sitting with it for a minute because it honestly feels really special.
Not just because it’s an award but because of where it comes from.
The Best of Tustin Awards are put on by the Tustin Chamber of Commerce, and what I love about it is that it’s driven by the community. People who live here, raise their families here, and support local businesses are the ones nominating and voting.
So it’s not random. It’s not a panel of strangers.
It’s this community.
And that’s what makes it mean so much to me.
I was born in Michigan, but Tustin is home
When my husband and I moved to Orange County from Michigan back in 2004, our kids were still really young. We chose Tustin as the place we wanted to settle, and 22 years later… we’re still here.
Same neighborhood. Same community.
Our kids grew up here, went through TUSD schools, and built their lives here. It’s where we’ve built our life. It’s where I built my business.
And it’s where I’ve had the privilege of photographing so many families over the years. Some of whom I’ve now photographed multiple times as their families grow. That part never gets old.
And it’s why this one makes me so proud. Because it’s truly local. It’s coming from people who actually know my work. And it represents real families who trusted me during really important seasons of their lives.

There are a lot of awards out there, but this one means so much.
I’m so grateful everyday that we chose Tustin as our place to land. And I’m so grateful for my the beautiful studio I created in Old Town Tustin that has become my happy place while I move into the empty nest. Serving growing Orange County families as they begin their child-raising journeys, just like we did so long ago, is truly such an honor.
