(Community support for new moms in Orange County updated in September 2026). Becoming a new mom is exciting, but it can also be overwhelming. Sometimes the hardest part is simply knowing what kind of help is available and where to find it. Orange County has support for postpartum mental health, feeding, early parenting, community connection and practical needs. The right starting point depends on what you need right now.
Since starting Jennifer Imus Photography in 2009, I have spent a lot of time with expecting mothers, new mothers and growing families. I put this list together to make local support easier to find. It is not a ranking, and I have not personally used every resource below. Each listing was included because its current official information confirms that it serves Orange County families or offers a relevant online support option.
This guide is for general information and is not medical or mental-health advice. If you need immediate emotional support during pregnancy or after birth, the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline is free, confidential and available 24/7 by call or text at 1-833-TLC-MAMA. For a mental-health crisis, call or text 988. Call 911 if you or someone else is in immediate danger.
Hoag currently lists postpartum and prenatal support groups along with maternal mental-health services. Hoag also offers a separate online Fourth Trimester class through its maternity education program. These are different services, so check the current page for the right program and registration details.
Postpartum Support International offers free online peer-support groups for pregnancy, postpartum mental health, pregnancy and infant loss, military families, birth trauma and other specific experiences. PSI also maintains a provider and support-group directory that can be searched by location. This is a national resource, not an Orange County clinical provider.
La Leche League offers free parent-to-parent breastfeeding and human-milk-feeding support. The South and West Orange County group currently lists monthly in-person meetings and contact options with accredited volunteer leaders. For other local or virtual groups, use the La Leche League locator.
The Breastfeeding Center of Orange County in Laguna Hills offers lactation consultations, pumping and bottle-feeding support, classes and postpartum community. Its official site states that services are available in person and virtually. Check the current consultation page for provider information, insurance details and scheduling.
The New Mom School currently offers in-person class series grouped by babies’ ages, including newborn, infant, rising-toddler and second-time-mom classes. The Newport Mesa program also lists a free, IBCLC-led breastfeeding support group. Registration is required, and the current class page has the latest schedule and location details.
MOMS Orange County provides no-cost support for pregnancy, postpartum and a baby’s first year. Current programs include Healthy Beginnings home visits, health education, classes and support groups in English and Spanish. Some services have eligibility requirements, so start with the official program page rather than assuming every option is open to every family.
Family Support Network helps Orange County families raising children with developmental delays, disabilities, medical needs or other challenges. Its current early-childhood services include free developmental screenings for children ages 0 to 5, parent support, referrals and help connecting with early-intervention resources.
The Orange County Health Care Agency’s WIC program offers eligible pregnant and postpartum women, infants and young children healthy foods, nutrition information, breastfeeding support and referrals to community services. Eligibility and enrollment information are available through the official county page.
These are class and community options, not medical recommendations. If you are pregnant, newly postpartum or recovering from a complication, ask your own clinician what kind of movement is appropriate for you.
FIT4MOM Irvine/Tustin currently offers prenatal and postpartum fitness programs, including FIT4BABY and stroller-based classes. Because formats and locations change, check the local schedule before attending rather than relying on an older class listing.
South Coast Music Together offers parent-and-child music and movement classes in Newport Beach and Irvine, with mixed-age classes that include babies. The official schedule shows current dates, locations and registration status.
Waterworks Aquatics offers Parent and Me swim lessons at its Irvine location for babies and toddlers beginning at 3 months. Parent and Me classes are not offered at every Waterworks location, so use the Irvine program page or confirm the selected location before registering.
Peanut is an online community app designed to help women connect during pregnancy, motherhood and other life stages. It can be useful for meeting people nearby or joining interest-based groups, but it is a social platform, not a substitute for professional medical or mental-health support.
OC Mom Collective is a current local information site with Orange County parenting articles, resource guides and event coverage. It is a useful place to discover local ideas and businesses, but the current site does not support the original article’s claim that it operates forums or regular support-group meetups.
Community support for new moms in Orange County can mean very different things. You may need a trained professional, a practical program, a class that gets you out of the house or simply another mom who understands the stage you are in. Start with the resource that fits the need in front of you, and confirm the current program details directly with the organization.
If one resource is not the right fit, that does not mean support is not available. Ask your physician, pediatrician or another licensed provider for a referral when the need is medical or mental-health related, and keep looking until you find the kind of help that feels useful to you.
